National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) participated in a stakeholders meeting convened by the Ministry of Agriculture, where the Honorable Minister Sam Kawale MP highlighted that the meeting was part of ongoing agricultural productivity reforms, aimed at shifting Malawi from a subsistence farming mindset to a commercialized agricultural sector.

He further highlighted the critical role of irrigation farming in ensuring food security, stressing that production should not be seasonal but continuous, allowing farmers to harvest multiple times in a year.

Speaking at the event, NEEF's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Humphrey Mdyetseni, reaffirmed the Fundโ€™s commitment to supporting this transformation through tailored financial products designed specifically for the agricultural sector. โ€œAt NEEF, we believe that access to affordable financing is key to unlocking agricultural potential. That is why we have seven distinct loan products for agriculture, ensuring that farmers have the resources they need to scale up production,โ€ he said.

He further revealed that through Farm Inputs loans alone, NEEF has disbursed MK70 Billion this 2024/2025 farming season to support farmers across Malawi. In addition, since 2021, the Fund has disbursed over MK216 Billion to over 221,000 clients, significantly boosting rural economic growth.

NEEF remains dedicated to financial inclusion, wealth creation, and food security by ensuring that farmers have the necessary capital to invest, expand, and thrive in agribusiness.
