Dr. THABBIE CHILONGO
Dr. Thabbie Chilongo is the current Head of the Centre for Agricultural Research and Development (CARD) based at Bunda Campus of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in Malawi. Dr. Chilongo is a seasoned researcher, academician and administrator with 18 years’ experience. Dr. Chilongo possesses a PhD in Economics from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, MSc. in Agricultural Economics and a BSc in Agricultural Economics all from University of Malawi. He specializes in Agricultural, Development and Resource Economics. His research interests include rural livelihoods, resource management, poverty and general socioeconomic developmental issues. As an academician, Dr. Chilongo has supervised and taught at all levels (BSc., MSc. and PhD). Some of the courses he teaches include Research Methods for Social Sciences, Food and Agricultural Policy Analysis, Agricultural Marketing and Econometrics. Analytically, Dr. Chilongo has a bias in quantitative econometric analysis although he frequently applies a mixed methods approach of both quantitative and qualitative analyses. He has led and coordinated several research projects for both public, international and local NGOs and the private sector in general. As an administrator, Dr. Chilongo has been the Director of CARD since 2016 and also part of the core LUANAR management team by among others serving in the following committees: University Management, Senate, Heads and Deans and Faculty of Development Studies. Among the many hats he wears, Dr. Chilongo also serves as a Board member for National Economic Fund Limited.

Mr. NOEL TOMOKA
Noel Galazinyake Tomoka is a Certified Chartered Accountant and an accomplished internal auditor. He has 8 years’ experience in external auditing. Tomoka holds a bachelor’s degree of Accountancy from Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a registered member with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ACCA) and Chartered Accountant Malawi (CAM).
Tomoka works as an internal audit manager at National Bank of Malawi. He has also served as a Board member in several governmental and non-governmental organization in Malawi and currently he is contributing immensely to the Board of NEEF.
AUDIT COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON
Ms. ATUWENI KADAM’MANJA
Atuweni Kadammanja is a committed professional and prudent expert in Audit and Financial Management with almost three years of experience working with Prince Water House Coopers Audit Firm carrying out audit tasks for a wide variety of clients. She is also an expert in risk assessment, internal control review, data analytics and substantive tests. She has worked with a number of companies locally to build her expertise. She has also previously worked as a finance officer at Christian Health Association of Malawi.
She is a holder of Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Malawi and currently on her final level studies with the Institute of Chartered Accountant in Malawi (ICAM).
RISK & COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON
Mr. TAPULUMUKA THOMBOZI
Tapulumuka John Thombozi is an expert in Technical Accounting, Financial planning, and book keeping practice principles, management and reconciliations, payroll processing as well as taxation. Thombozi has also held various positions with Women’s Legal Resources Center (WOLREC), NICO Life Insurance Company, Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Partnership Section, Microloan Foundation and Britam Insurance Company Ltd.
Thombozi holds a Bachelor’s in Accountancy from MUBAS formerly known as the University of Malawi, the Polytechnic. Thombozi also holds an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accreditation and a Public Accountants Examination Council (PAEC) Diploma in Accounting from the Malawi College of Accountancy.

Mr. JIMION NYANDA
SIMION JIMION NYANDA
Simion Jimion Nyanda holds a Masters in Law (Human Rights) LLM with a Distinction and a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from the University of Malawi. He is currently a legal practitioner and a Partner with Lion Rock Attorneys at Law since July 2018. He is also a Partner with John Tennyson and Associates and has worked with Opportunity Bank of Malawi ltd from June 2016 to April 2017 as the Legal and Litigation Manager. Nyanda has also a held the post of Legal Services Manager for NBS Bank Ltd from January 2015 to June 2016. He has also been a part time lecturer with the University of Malawi and Malawi Institute of Journalism.
Mrs. BARBRA BANDA
Barbara Banda is a Development and Gender Expert who has over 30 years of experience working with cooperates, government and civil society organizations. She is also a renowned defender of women and children’s rights with skills in Gender Mainstreaming and Policy Advocacy. She possesses a Masters in Development Management from UK Open University and has worked in several national and international departments in the SADC region. Banda has experience in development and implementation of women economic empowerment projects and developing a gender sensitive programming, company strategic planning and implementation processes, promotion of regional trade, spearheading trade and gender policy reforms, community mobilization and networking among others. Banda has also served on various boards as Board member for Bountified International, a local NGO, member of Civil Society National Reference Group on the EU funded Spotlight program, member of Accountability Committee for the DFiD Strategic Fund on Violence against women and girls on violence against women and girls “Tithense Nkhanza.”
Mr. DOUGLAS CHAVULA
Mr Chavula has obtained most of his working experience as a Banker from 1970 to 2002. Doubtlessly such experience is of tremendous benefit to other financial Institutions where lending experience is lacking and misdirection of funds is common.
Mr. JACOB MDERU
With over 20 years of experience in agricultural industry, consulting, retail banking and financial service, Jacob Patrick Ackim Mderu is an accomplished professional with a diverse skill set and a wealth of knowledge in various sectors, poised to deliver innovative solutions and drive success in any endeavor he undertakes. Mderu is a holder of MSc degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from Management College of Southern Africa. He is also one of the pioneers that developed the first operation and procedure manual for Malawi Development Fund (MARDEF) now National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF). In addition, Mderu has also handled other microfinance institutions such as FITSE now Vision Fund for World Vision International Malawi creating a platform on which this business operated on. Together with his Team, Mderu managed disbursements and recoveries operations throughout the nation. He also worked with Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) from 2016-2018 as Head of Agribusiness and Markets. Mderu has also trained and coached farmers involved in various value chains using adult learning methodologies. Currently, he operates as a consultant in financial literacy and Agribusiness.
Mrs. ELITA J. ZIMBA
Elita Zimba is an expert in project planning, management and execution, resource coordination, grant management and cross functional collaboration among others. Zimba has worked with the Ministry of Education, the Office of the Ombudsman, Generational Leadership Initiative (GLI) and the Civil Society Agriculture Network (CISANET).
Zimba holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Development Studies) from Pentecostal Life University. She is currently pursuing Master’s in Business Management (MBA) from Malawi Institute of Management and Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management from UNICAF Zambia.
Mr. ARAM BEZA
Mr Beza has strong leadership qualities; a self-starter and hard worker. He obtained his Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) from Mzimba Secondary School from 1985-1989. He proceeded to attain his Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Drawing and Designing at International Correspondence Schools (USA) from 1989-1992. He has worked with Rumphi District Council as a Representative of Rumphi Business Community and a member of the Finance Committee. He has held a Managing Director role with AMB Trading and with Modern Superette as the Managing Director.
